Consulting

The Illinois Leadership® Center Consulting Program is dedicated to helping you do what you want with your group. Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), student groups, residence hall floors, and other small groups use our services to become a more cohesive team, learn how to communicate more effectively, or simply have fun together. Students who participate in the program can learn how to become more effective in teams through accomplishing goals, planning a program or retreat, goal-setting and follow-through, and a variety of other topics. As a result, our professionally-trained team will help you to gain insights into your personal leadership style while helping your group to become a more effective team.

If you’re interested in meeting with one of our consultants, please fill out this form and email it to us, or print it and drop it off at the Leadership Center (290 Illini Union).

Our Consulting Program has three main elements:

Specialized Counseling Sessions
Specialized Counseling Sessions provide you the opportunity to afford your group individualized consultation on a topic of your choice. A staff member will meet with you to provide feedback, direction or advice regarding your group and its development.

Our consultants can help your group become more proficient in many ways. You can:

  • Develop strategies for how to recruit and retain group members
  • Gain insights on various areas of leadership development
  • Improve a group’s effectiveness through action planning and goal development
  • Provide event-planning guidance in planning events such as leadership retreats, workshops, lectures, meetings, fundraisers, etc.

    Many more!

Workshops
Facilitated by trained consultants, these workshops are offered to students or groups of students interested in learning more about an important leadership topic. These are offered throughout the year at the Illinois Leadership Center or a location of your choice.

Our workshops include:

  • Effective Meetings
  • Transitioning Smoothly
  • Recruiting and Keeping Members
  • Goal Setting

    Many more!

Self-Guided Activities
For more experienced student leaders, RSOs and other student groups may reserve Self-Guided Activities (or “Workshop-in-a-Box”) to be facilitated by a member of your group. This would include the materials needed, instructions, and other important items that would be required. Support will also be provided if there are any questions regarding the activities’ execution or facilitation.

Self-Guided Activities cover topics such as:

  • Teamwork
  • Communication
  • Diversity/Inclusiveness
