Leadership Library

The Cavenaugh Leadership Library is a dynamic feature of the Leadership Center that provides 500 resources that speak to the skills you need for life. We have books, CDs, DVDs, videos, and workshop planning kits that address the 11 fundamental components of leadership. The resources are categorized into more detail in the link on this page. These resources are available to all members of the university who have an i-card, and they may be checked out for up to two weeks. Stop by the leadership library at the Leadership Center and learn the skills you need for life.
The Leadership Library is supported by an endowment from alumni Richard F. Cavenaugh, who graduated from the University of Illinois in 1982 with a degree in Civil Engineering. As a student Cavenaugh was involved in many activities, serving as President of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and as a member of the Student Senate, SORF Board, Chi Epsilon and Volunteer Illini Projects. Cavenaugh continued his involvement after graduating by becoming a member of the Student Affairs Advisory Council, a mentor for the civil engineering department and returning to campus numerous times to make presentations to and challenge student leaders. A staunch supporter of Student Affairs, Cavenaugh has provided financial support for the Illinois LeaderShape® Institute; a permanent scholarship supporting students from Carmel High School in Mundelein, Illinois; and endowing the library at the Illinois Leadership Center. Cavenaugh’s initial gift supported the creation of leadership library and his endowment sustains this important resource for Illinois students.
